What is the waiting period for lost wages in North Carolina:

No lost time payment is due for the first 7 days of disability unless the disability lasts longer than 21 days. If the disability exceeds the 21 day retroactive period then the first 7 days will be paid.

If the injured employee is not paid wages for the entire day on which the injury occurred the 7 day waiting period includes the date of injury regardless of the hour of the injury. All days--or parts of days--when the injured employee is unable to earn a full day's wages, or is otherwise not paid a full day's wages due to the injury, will be counted in computing the waiting period even if the days are not consecutive and even if these are not regularly scheduled workdays.

There is no waiting period if the permanent disability period exceeds 21 days when added to the temporary disability period.
