What is the waiting period for lost wages in Virginia:

No lost time benefit payment is due for the first 7 days of disability unless the disability lasts longer than 21 days, then the first 7 days will be paid retroactively. Benefit eligibility begins with day 8 moving forward. Benefits are only payable for the first 7 day waiting period if the disability continues for more than 21 days.

If the employee is not paid wages for the entire day on which the injury occurred, the 7 day waiting period includes the date of injury regardless of the hour or time of the injury. Days need not be consecutive to count toward the waiting and retroactive periods. All days or parts of days when the injured employee is unable to earn a full day's wages, or is otherwise not paid a full day's wages, due to injury are counted in computing the waiting or retroactive periods even though the days may not be consecutive.
